The Main Special Collection is located in the Wallace Annex, on the Ground floor of the Main Library. It contains materials that would normally be housed in the Rare Books and Special Collections Library, but because of limited space in that building certain materials are now housed in this collection in the Main Library.
The Main Special Collection area is not yet completely set up (there is much material that remains un catalogued and the area is not always staffed), therefore the materials in this area are currently only available on a limited basis.
Materials in the Main Special Collection may only be consulted in the presence of Library staff and the user must have a valid AUC Library ID.
To consult the collection:
During regular office hours (8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Sunday-Thursday):
The Main Special Collection is open and users can proceed to the area.
After regular office hours:
Users should leave the following information with a staff member at the Reference Desk or send it via email to pcroom@aucegypt.edu:
- name
- email address
- telephone number
- call numbers of the materials they wish to consult.
The Reference Desk staff will forward this information so that a Main Special Collections staff member can then contact the user and make an appointment to use the collections.
