Rare Books and Special Collections Library

Donating to the RBSCL

At the Rare Books and Special Collections Library we are always interested in acquiring documents, photographs, family papers, professional records, books, and other items that help us preserve Egypt’s heritage and that of the wider region. Our goal is to be an active Center of Excellence for the Middle East and Arab Cultures, an outstanding source for primary research materials about this region. Over the years the library’s research holdings have grown thanks to donors generously contributing rare materials that reflect the history, culture, and society of Egypt and the Middle East.

Postcard of Cairo CitadelFor more information on the kinds of donations that would be valuable for the library, please see our page describing what we collect . If you have something that would be a useful addition to the library’s collections, please see our procedures for how to make a donation . While the library also welcomes financial contributions to assist in accomplishing our mission, it is only through generous gifts of original and rare books, documents, and other materials that we can preserve Egypt’s history for future generations.

For the transfer of official university records from AUC departments or offices, or the donation of faculty papers or other items relating to AUC, please see the websites for the AUC University Archives and AUC Records Management.
