Off-Campus access to Databases

Our new proxy server allows authorized AUC users to access licensed databases and online journals from anywhere off campus (any Internet connection) and from any location in the world. Click here for more details

Ingenta

AUC graduate students are provided with access to Ingenta, an electronic database that contains citations/abstracts of articles from more than 26,000 academic and professional publications. For Ingenta’s login and password, contact Hoda El Ridi by email at elridih@aucegypt.edu

After setting up your personal profile, Ingenta allows you to receive via email the table of contents from the journals of your choice. Articles are requested through the AUC library’s document delivery system, not through Ingenta.

Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Service

Document delivery is a service through which AUC Library users can obtain materials not available in the AUC Library. AUC students are urged to use the online request form available from the library’s homepage under “Request Documents ”. All items are subject to copyright law. Average turnaround time is often 2 - 3 days. To inquire about the status of your request, please contact: docdel@aucegypt.edu.

Carrels For Studying

AUC Library has 30 locking carrels available for use by graduate students on a semester basis. Due to the limited number of available carrels, priority will be given to those students who are actively working in the library on their master's thesis and have been recommended by their dean. Requests for study carrels should be made in the Collection Development Office from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the 4th floor of the main library or by calling 2797-6391. This office is closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

The following rules will apply to students who are assigned a locking carrel:

-Students may only store library materials in these carrels that have been properly checked out at the Circulation Desk.

-Periodicals, other non-circulating materials, and circulating materials that have not been properly checked out MAY NOT be stored in the locked carrels.

-Food may not be stored in the locked carrels.

-The Library will reserve the right to periodically search the carrels to ensure that improper materials have not been stored in them. Uncharged library materials will be returned to the shelves.

-Valuables should not be left in locked carrels. The library will not be held responsible for any property left in these carrels.

-Abuse of these rules will result in losing the privilege of having an assigned carrel.

-At the end of the semester, carrels should be emptied and keys returned to Collection Development. If keys have not been returned by the end of finals, the library will empty the locker, returning library items and giving personal property to the Lost and Found. Students will also be fined LE 20 for keys that are not returned.
