The RBSCL documents ancient, medieval, and modern Egypt and the wider region, with strengths in Egyptology, Islamic art and architecture, photography, and Egyptian and regional architecture of the 20th century. The library features extensive rare and contemporary book and periodical holdings, and archival and manuscript collections reflecting Egyptian social, political, cultural, and intellectual life. RBSCL also houses the university's archives, which highlight more than one hundred years of AUC history.

AUC Acquires Rare Archive in Collaboration with Prominent U.S. Institutions
AUC’s Libraries and Learning Technologies is collaborating with five leading U.S. academic institutions — Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton University, New York University, University of Michigan and College of Charleston — for the acquisition of the historical Maktabat al-Khanji Archive.
The AUC Library will digitize materials from the archive while preserving the original collection in the University’s Rare Books and Special Collections Library.
